Based on - 50 fligths, 25 hours in 2 seater glider with instructor and solo within one year of membership.
Current per year thereafter flying approximately 25 hours solo over 25 flights in club gliders - only approximately $2000 or $80 per hour.

When you join VMFG, you will have a flying account and your charges will be billed to you monthly.
An average training flight would be 7 minutes on aerotow behind our Piper Pawnee, taking you to an altitude of 2,000 ft (600 meter). If you spent 30 minutes flying in a DG 505 during training, you would be charged $36.82 for the aerotow and $30.00 for the glider.
You would be hard pressed to find any aviation activity, where you could spend 30 minutes in the air for $66.82!
In Australia, the regulations require you to be a member of the national gliding regulatory body, the Gliding Federation of Australia (GFA). For the membership year 1st July – 30th June, this will cost you $230.00 for an ordinary member.

Of course, if you join outside the membership year, you will only pay a pro-rata amount.
The membership charges cover such things as public liability insurance and the gliding magazine "Soaring Australia". A debenture is also charged which is your investment into the clubs many aircraft, and facilities.
This varies per membership type, but is fully refunded when you leave the club.Short-term memberships are available for overseas visitors. Please give us a call to find out more about these rates.
